Rainy Week

I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend, it has been a very wet Independence Day here but we needed the rain so much that it was fine. It was nice to have a different kind of day, every day is bright & sunny usually. Joel came back Thursday afternoon & he's not traveling this week which is great.
Today is grey & rainy & it should keep going for most of the week, it's nice & needed & cooling us down which is lovely.
I had lunch with three girlfriends earlier today, we went to a Japanese restaurant & the good surprise was that Fern was just back from Minnesota & could join us. She came back yesterday night so it was a great timing. Next week, I should go to an art class with them. We always have such a great time together, time just flies.
Thanks to the rain, the elephant ears look green again, they aren't very big this year because it's been so dry.

Although the photos don't always show it, we have a large deck so the trees don't bump into the house if it's windy or so, they are not as close as they look in most photos. If you check last week photo, you can see a wooden line behind the window, it's the edge of the deck & the photo made it look like it was touching the window but there's a lot of room between the window & the wooden balustrade. So we have lots of room & breathing space :o)
I'm using basil in everything & it's growing pretty well despite some bugs trying to eat it. It's one of my favorite summer herbs & it's so nice to have it right outside the kitchen.

Have a great day!
